this mix follows the incubation time of droids from the moment of conception until birth. imagine thousands of tiny gel-like droid eggs slowly developing and hatching. no climactic hooks, just a slow journey progressing from a dark, organic maternal place culminating in the bright, heavenly beam of light that is the fragile autonomy of life.

FJM04 - Overal Flitspoppers

happy spring time, happy birthday to me, happy flitspoppers!
this mix is based on the dutch version of Roald Dahl's B.F.G. and in particular its extraordinarily wonderful term flitspopper.
the word itself brings to mind joyous dreams of happy tunes, flashing lights, shiny stars, childish jokes and overly sweet lemonade. in short, the ideal pop song. which made it a nice challenge to mix, since the last three mixes have been quite dark in retrospect.
this time i'm thankful the girl falls asleep after about fifty minutes otherwise my heart might gloriously explode with glee.

FJM03 - Repair Droids

as the title suggests, this is a successor to the assault droids mix. repair droids however are more consistent, more single-minded than their aggressive cousins. also, they're more vocal and slightly camp.
this mix is a representation of the last day in the life of an infected repair droid. constantly fixing other droids exposes it to all kinds of dangers; unfortunately it is incapable of detecting viral infections in its own system. thus it wakes up one day and tries to slug routinely through the barrage of droids that need fixing until it overloads, slips into robot coma and dies. sorry to be so gloomy.

FJM02 - Murder Mysteries

creaking steps of the motel staircase, eerie lights, dancing shadows, footsteps in blood, proper gumshoes, chase scenes, tommy guns and all other detective stories clichés combined with the harsh, cold reality of crime in real life and the stench of death. sort of like reading a comic in the morning and witnessing the actual events of the story in the afternoon with your own eyes.
